This is the largest black walnut tree in the state of Tx. Recorded, registered, and monitored by the Texas A&M College Station Forest Service. When you stand beside it, you realize how small we really are. You can turn your hand sideways alongside the trunk and it will disappear into the bark. The 100’s of years are growth are layered there to see.
The limb somewhat exploded when lightning hit it and you can still see the irregular split patterns and charring on the bark and live edges of the wood.
